On Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, more than 300 people joined Mayor Kurt Wilson, City Council, and staff at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center for the annual State of the City event.

Inspired by this year’s theme, “Tradition Meets Innovation,” the State of the City highlighted Roswell’s commitment to honoring its rich history while embracing forward-thinking initiatives.

The event featured an opening invocation by Dr. Sabin Strickland, Pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church; a moving rendition of the National Anthem performed by Tiffany Hunt, a member of the City’s Finance Department; and a special tribute to Roswell’s Esteemed Veterans in attendance.

City Administrator Randy Knighton honored Roswell’s Employee of the Year, Patti Weathersbee, a nine-year employee of the City’s Environmental/Public Works Department who has gone above and beyond to serve the community.

A dynamic video presentation highlighted milestones Roswell has achieved over the past three years in areas such as economic development, transportation, public safety, recreation and parks, public works, and more.

Mayor Kurt Wilson delivered the keynote address and cited the bold leadership of the City Council and the City’s executive leaders as instrumental in the City’s productivity over the past three years.

Today, I can share with you that our leadership team at City Hall is adaptive, forward-thinking, and focused on delivering tangible outcomes. Together, we are embracing a new model of governance—one that honors Roswell’s rich history while charting a visionary course for its future. We will ensure that Roswell remains a city that residents are proud to call home and a destination that others envy.”

In addition to celebrating the City’s progress, Mayor Wilson emphasized the importance of engaging our community in a shared vision for growth and innovation.

As your Mayor, I believe our role in leadership is not just to maintain the status quo but to dream big and take bold actions that will shape Roswell for future generations. Together, we have the opportunity—and the responsibility—to build a community that embodies the highest standards of safety, quality of life, and innovation.”
