The City of Roswell’s 74th annual Youth Day Celebration is set to take place on Saturday, October 5, and we are inviting community partners to join in the festivities. The Youth Day Celebration is free for community partners to participate, offering an excellent opportunity to engage with the community and showcase your organization.

The celebration will kick off with the Frances McGahee Parade at 10 a.m., starting at Roswell Area Park and winding down Canton Street before concluding at Roswell First Baptist Church on Mimosa Boulevard. This year’s theme, “Innovation Meets Tradition,” promises a vibrant display of creativity with candy-tossing, custom community floats, and all-day family fun.

Following the parade, the celebration will continue at Roswell City Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring a variety of exciting activities. Families can explore:

    • Art Block: A celebration of arts and humanities with live performances, puppetry, face painting, and interactive arts and crafts.
    • Fall Farm Days: A seasonal experience at Smith Plantation, where families can engage with performing arts, literature, visual arts, and more.
    • Touch-a-Truck: An opportunity for children to get up close with various vehicles such as fire trucks.
    • Food Truck Alley: A delicious selection of food trucks offering something for everyone.
    • Additional Highlights include a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, live entertainment, and make-and-take crafts, ensuring a day full of memorable experiences for all ages.

The Youth Day Celebration has been a cherished tradition in Roswell since 1950, when local parents first organized a parade and day of activities to honor the city’s youth. In 1951, Mayor Ford Rucker officially proclaimed a Saturday in October as “Roswell Youth Day,” and the celebration has grown each year, strengthening the bonds within our community.
