The City of Roswell is kicking off the Mimosa Hall Driveway Improvement Project, a pivotal initiative funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), beginning June 3, 2024. This project is a significant step and a cornerstone of Roswell’s Historic District.
Project Overview
The Mimosa Hall Driveway Improvement Project involves reconstructing the curved driveway situated to the far right of the cobblestone walkway, extending from the street curb to the back, right side of Mimosa Hall. It is scheduled for completion in fall 2024. The total budget for the project is $882,081.
This project is made possible through the collaborative efforts of our partners: Prime Construction, leading the construction; Georgia Power, providing critical infrastructure support and reliable energy solutions; and Meer Electric, enhancing electrical systems to meet modern standards and improve safety.
Why This Project is Critical?
For years, the driveway at Mimosa Hall has withstood the passage of time, weathering countless seasons and heavy use. This wear and tear now necessitates upgrades. The new design includes realigning the driveway, widening it from 8 to 16 feet, resurfacing it with permeable pavers, and a concrete and brick stair installation. The benefits are multifaceted:
- Enhanced Safety: The current driveway has deteriorated, posing safety risks. The new design will improve surface conditions and accessibility.
- Improved Accessibility: The updated driveway will better accommodate all visitors, including those with disabilities.
Tree and Landscape Protection
To protect trees along the driveway, the City plans for a tree root barrier which will be used to redirect and guide tree roots down and away from hardscape surfaces. The City is working to preserve the natural beauty of the property. Our commitment includes:
- Tree Protection Plans: Certified arborists will oversee the project, ensuring all construction activities safeguard the health of our trees.
- Minimal Impact Construction Techniques: We will employ methods that minimize root disruption and soil compaction around tree bases.
- Regular Monitoring: Ongoing monitoring will address any potential stress or damage to the trees promptly.
Temporary Closure of Mimosa Hall
To ensure public safety and the efficiency of the construction process, Mimosa Hall will be temporarily closed to the public during the improvement project. This closure is essential to:
- Ensure Public Safety: Construction zones can be hazardous; closing the site prevents risks to visitors.
- Maintain Construction Quality: An undisturbed site allows for higher construction quality and better preservation of the environment.

Built in the 1840s, Mimosa Hall is one of Roswell’s most cherished historic landmarks. Mimosa Hall compliments Roswell’s three historic house museums of Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall, and Smith Plantation by serving as a rental venue for private events as well as regular cultural programming and special events.
