The City of Roswell is thrilled to announce that it has entered into a Purchase and Sale Agreement to acquire approximately 24 acres of property located at 365 Hardscrabble Road. This acquisition will be combined with an adjacent 25-acre parcel already owned by the City, creating a future 49 to 50-acre park space that will serve as a new cornerstone of recreation and community engagement.

This newly acquired land, formerly owned by the Estate of Edwin Spruill, will become part of “The Edwin and Nelda Spruill Park,” honoring the family’s legacy and commitment to Roswell.

The City is purchasing the 24-acre tract for $7.5 million, with closing expected within 90 days of Council approval. The parkland will significantly expand Roswell’s green space and provide residents with opportunities to enjoy the outdoors for generations to come.

“We are proud to take this next step in fulfilling Roswell’s vision for a connected, accessible and beautiful park system,” said Mayor Kurt Wilson. “This new park will offer our community an extraordinary space for recreation, reflection and celebration, and we are honored to name it in memory of Edwin and Nelda Spruill.”

The City will begin long-term planning efforts to help shape the future park’s amenities and layout. As part of the purchase agreement, the City has also agreed to maintain the property prior to closing and allow the seller 30 days post-closing to remove any personal property.

This major land acquisition reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to preserving open space, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring Roswell remains one of the most desirable places to live in the nation.
