As communities across the South start a long recovery process in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s destruction, City of Roswell reflects on how fortunate we were that our community spared from the most severe impacts of the storm. That does not mean we were without challenges. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our City’s Public Safety and Emergency Operations teams, as well as the exceptional efforts of staff in all departments, we were able to respond swiftly and efficiently to the incidents we experienced.

Roswell’s teams were well prepared for the impact of the storm, and they mobilized quickly, tackling everything from clearing numerous downed trees on main and residential roads, to securing flooded areas, responding to downed power lines, restoring signal outages, and constantly monitoring and preparing to respond to any threats the storm might have brought. Their professionalism, teamwork, and tireless dedication ensured that our City remained resilient.

The City of Roswell is grateful to its residents for their patience and cooperation during this time. Your support allowed our teams to expedite our response to the community.

In this video, we invite you to learn more about the incredible work done at Roswell’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during the storm. The EOC is the heart of the City’s response to any significant public safety event. It brings together the City’s Emergency Operations Team, Police Department, Fire Department, E-911, Transportation, Public Works, and staff in all other key departments to coordinate a smooth, strategic response to emergency situations.

Join Mayor Kurt Wilson as he visits the EOC in the early morning hours on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024. Find out more about the activities that happen at the EOC and how our teams coordinated and executed the swift response efforts you experienced. It’s a unique glimpse into the dedication and teamwork that keep Roswell safe, even when nature throws its worst at us.
