One of the many transformative projects coming to the City of Roswell is the City Hall Trails Project—an exciting effort to enhance connectivity between our Historic Downtown District, Roswell City Hall, the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, and the Smith Plantation.

    Project Description & Background

The City Hall Trails project will improve access and further define the entire corridor experience.

When completed, the trail system improvements will integrate wide, accessible pathways, an array of lighting, and unique gathering spaces. These enhancements will create a vibrant community destination for art, history, and entertainment—featuring public art installations, live performances, historical interpretation, and more!

The City of Roswell shared a first look of the project in September 2023, when we presented the concept designs at Alive in Roswell and shared them on social media and the Bond Project Dashboard at www.RoswellGov.com/Bond.

    Connectivity to Downtown Roswell

The network of trails features several “gateways” at the edges of the City Hall campus, where inviting plazas connect pedestrians to several convenient downtown locations:

    • The Alpharetta Street North Gateway at the corner of Norcross and Alpharetta Street (Hwy. 9), which provides easy access to Canton Street, East Alley, Green Street, and other downtown locations.
    • The Norcross Street Gateway at the HAWK Beacon/crosswalk, providing access to businesses on the north side of Norcross Street, including Variant Brewery and the forthcoming Southern Post development.
    • The Alpharetta Street Central Gateway, which provides a direct connection to downtown at the HAWK Beacon/crosswalk across Alpharetta Street (Hwy. 9) just north of Elizabeth Way.
    • The Alpharetta Street South Gateway, which connects directly with the crosswalk at Hwy. 9 traffic light, providing access to Canton Street and Magnolia Street.
    • The City Hall Gateway, which connects to the City Hall Municipal Complex, Roswell Cultural Arts Center, and more than 400 parking spaces available to the public at City Hall.
